Questions and answers

I met up with a friend on msn last week. A friend I have not conversed with in some time. I notified her of my intentions to seek additional borders to expand my horizons. I notified her of my intentions to move to New Zealand. I was met with slight hostility and doubt. I was simply asked, “Why do you want to leave Canada?” I simply notified her of the things that I found appealing about NZ and notified her of things that annoyed me about Canada. I was still met with confusion and ever-slight resentment. Why would I ever want to move away from Mother Canada?

I love Canada. Canada is my home and a damn nice place to live. I could think of worst places to live, like the Congo or the United States. Canada is not perfect though and after the last seven or so years, things have been getting to me. I don’t want to go off on a rant here but… I am annoyed with Canada and Canada’s foreign policy. I am annoyed that a country of peacekeepers is now the evil bagmen of the United States. I dislike how Canada has become Americanized more and more. I am annoyed with rap music and how every little punk wants to be Tupac and go down in a blaze of bullets. I dislike winter and the frigid temperatures. I dislike being caged in for four months out of the year due to winter. I dislike the failing infrastructure of our nation.

Mostly, I just hate winter. When you live as far north as us Canadians do, you get lots of snow. Winter usually starts in November and lasts until March. That is five months out of the year. Summers are too short and I long for a land that will allow me to be outside at anytime of the year. I dislike shoveling snow, shelling out funds for snow tires, I dislike silly winter drivers and I dislike snow.

I long for a more natural surrounding. I long for good weather and I long for sunshine. I am now on month four of winter and I hardly see sunlight anymore. The only sunshine I obtain is in the car traveling to work. When I finish work, the sun has gone down.
